They are the forgotten ones….
Torn between the loss of comrades and the guilt of having survived the cruel irony of war; these are our injured veterans. They have sustained the worst of war by experiencing it physically or mentally.
So often they return home with the strong bonds of “brotherhood” still wrapped to their hearts. Taking the loss of comrades is tough and then add the guilt of having survived the experience; this is a heavy load to bear. We see them and celebrate their service but all to often they are lost in the myriad of offerings to those who have given their all in the pursuit of our countries security.
The Master Chorus wants to acknowledge the talented sacrifice these heroes have endured.
They may not have given the ultimate in sacrifice but their scars are real and visible.
We celebrate the lives of our heroes on this coming Veterans Weekend,
November 7th & 8th.
The music chosen to celebrate our heroes is one of joy!
Brahms composed some beautiful music the Master Chorus is going to sing in their honor. “We are losing our heroes of past wars at an alarming rate” says Paul Klemme, Director of the Chorus. “We need to give them the appreciation they deserve by celebrating their accomplishment. In presenting one of the greatest choral works ever written we honor their sacrifices with the greatest in music.” The Requiem by Brahms is often referred to as a composition of celebrations of life, sacrifice and reassurance of a hope for their families.
This concert is dedicated to our veterans, their comrades and the families that share in their collective sacrifice.
“The music is a call to honor. It gives us hope, anticipation, reflection and a meaning to the lives we honor” offers Dr Klemme. “They deserve our praise!”
The Master Chorus wants to acknowledge how important these lives are and the integral involvement they have in our community. If you know of those who have given of them selves in the service of our country through the armed forces, encourage them to come. We want to honor them; for the courage they demonstrated, the lives they hold in high esteem and their families whom they hold dear.
