Spend a romantic evening at the orchestra! Salem Chamber Orchestra will feature Italian pianist Alessandro Taverna as soloist in performances of Poulenc’s Aubade, concerto choregraphique on Feb 13th at 7:30pm & 14th at 3pm. Conductor Robert Ashens returns to the podium to lead the Orchestra in this program, also including Wagner’s romantic Siegfried Idyll and Dvořák’s Serenade, Op. 44.
The concert will be in Hudson Hall in the Mary Stuart Rogers Music Center at Willamette University.
The Guardian says of Taverna’s performance at the Leeds International Piano Competition, “Like many in the audience I would have liked to see the first prize go to bronze medalist Alessandro Taverna, who played Chopin's e minor Concerto with forthright, articulate beauty. He commanded the platform as if it were his by right, and looked to be thoroughly enjoying himself. Remember his name, I suspect we shall be hearing much more of him in the future."
Tickets for orchestra performances are $10-$20 adults, $10 education employees, and $5 students. Reserved seating. Orchestra performances are sponsored by Morrow Equipment Co and DesignPoint, Inc.
Tickets for all performances are available at Travel Salem’s Travel Cafe at 181 High Street NE in downtown Salem, by calling 503-581-4325, or online at salemchamberorchestra.org.
