Our guest speaker for our March 16th meeting was Mike McClaren. Hope you were there! He shared about the foundation our Chamber is built on, his reason for some changes he has implemented and opportunities in our community to learn more leadership skills. We certainly enjoyed Mike and are so glad we can have confidence in his leadership abilities. Thanks Mike for all you do. It is greatly appreciated!! Our Chamber ROCKS!!!

Thanks to Sandy and Dianne from Simply Blissed for a great presentation. We learned so much about what you offer. The "different" type of sauna you have was really interesting. I think the whole group was ready for some sauna time!
Thanks to Micki Goodeill from Bob Cegon State Farm Insurance. You did a fantastic job of explaining ALL the products you offer. I was especially impressed with your customer care illustrations.

Kudos to Sherrie Gottfried of Keizer Renaissance Inn and Conference Center and Deely Klarr of Today's Hair for putting on a fabulous Women's Expo on Feb. 6 & 7. They coordinated a fun and interesting fashion plus a variety of businesses were available in booths for all guests to visit. They also centered this around several non-profit groups pertaining to Women and children in crisis. It is definitely an event you don't want to miss. It is already scheduled for next year.

At our last meeting, Pam Sorenson from CASA shared with us what CASA is all about and their needs. They are our chosen non-profit for this year. It was very interesting! She enlightened us all about the great needs for this program and how we can be a part of it. Volunteers for CASA are advocates for children in many situations helping them in our court system. Thanks to Pam for taking the time to share with us.

During the last 2 months 12 Oregon women and children have been murdered in domestic-violence related incidents. If you've ever wondered why this happens or what you can do to help, there is a community forum Tuesday night, January 26th, by Mid-Valley Women's Crisis Service to address questions about domestic violence in our community and what regular folks can do to be aware and to help. It's at Louck Auditorium at the Salem Public Library. Doors open at 6pm and the forum starts at 6:30.

Late notice, I know, but for those of you who are interested, it should be a very good program. Mid-Valley fields an astounding number of women's crisis calls every month right here in Marion County, and they have one of the model programs in the nation for educating about domestic violence.

Hi ladies, Cyndi Astley and Linda Macrae notified me about an event coming up for those that would like to help.
“On January 27, 2010 Community Action and its Partners will do a one-night count in Marion/Polk counties to count the number of homeless. This one-night count will correspond with a Community Homeless Connect Event on March 23, 2010, to those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to connect them with service providers to help improve their lives.
During this one-night count we will be not only counting the homeless but also serving coffee, pastry, and giving out warm adult or children’s winter coats. Community Action is in desperate need of coats for this event. Please help us provide those who are less fortunate with respect, hope, dignity, help, and support. For coat donations please contact: Linda Macrae, AmeriCorps Outreach Assistant, MWVCAA, at 503-585-6232.”
