Aging in the Willamette Valley radio show with John Hughes

You are getting older; we all are. You have family members who are getting older; we all do. You are experiencing the challenges that come with aging; we all will. But are you proactively managing the aging journey or letting it manage you? Are any of us?

Maybe you are one of the 46.2 million Americans over age 65? Or perhaps you are one of the more than 65 million Americans providing, on average, 20 hours per week of care for a chronically ill, disabled, or elderly family member? Maybe you’re both?

Either way, this radio show is for you. It is a resource that will help you understand, at a basic level, the KEY challenges you and your loved ones are likely to face, if you’re not already, as you grow older. Understanding and preparing for these challenges is the most crucial step you can take to increase your chances of a positive aging journey.

By listening to this show, you will learn from various experts about areas such as medication management, long term care insurance, long term financial planning, senior living options, primary care challenges, hospice, final wishes and more. Each show covers an explanation of the key challenges and opportunities related to the topic, illustrative stories and, most importantly, tips from experts on how to prepare yourself and your loved ones. Our goal is to raise your level of understanding to a basic level, not resolve all your questions. We want to educate you about the resources available to you in our community.

Aging is happening to all of us, and it is a journey full of many joys, many challenges and many opportunities. We want to help you maximize the joy, minimize the challenges and capitalize on the opportunities.

On behalf of all the contributors to this show, we wish you a journey full of learning and love!

Tune in every Tuesday at NOON on KMUZ 88.5 & 100.7 FM, online at KMUZ.org, or listen on your smart phone with the TuneIn app.
