Salem Chamber names Dan Dorn as Distinguished Service Award Recipient

 

(Salem, OR; January 27, 2012 --)The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that Dan Dorn will be honored as a Distinguished Service Award recipient at the upcoming First Citizen Award Banquet.

 

For the 62nd year, the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will recognize some of the most talented and accomplished men and women working in Salem who dedicate their time and talents to better our community.  Dan was surprised this morning with the news.

 

Dan Dorn donated time and expertise as the general contractor to rehabilitate a meth house in Keizer as part of the No Meth Not in My Neighborhood movement. He has served on the Salem Planning Commission for eight years, and has served as President for six. Most recently, he received the City of Salem's Vern Miller Key Citizen's Award in recognition of his outstanding service as a representative of the Planning Commission and Unified Development Advisory Committee.

 

Earlier this week, Curt Arthur and Ron and Kathy Kelemen were also surprised with the announcement that they will be recognized as Distinguished Service Award recipients. Along with them, Lucy Escobar was recognized as the Outstanding Young Professional and Janet Taylor was announced as First Citizen.

 

All three Distinguished Citizens, the First Citizen and an Outstanding Young Professional will be honored at the First Citizen's Awards Banquet to be held March 2, 2012 at the Salem Conference Center.
